Jennifer
L. Barnett
Jennifer L. Barnett graduated from Suffolk University Law
School where she graduated in 2004, magna cum laude. While
at Suffolk, Jennifer was Outreach Editor of the Journal of
High Technology Law and published a note entitled, “Cashing
in on the Transplant List: An Argument Against Offering
Valuable Compensation for the Donation of Organs.” Also,
while at Suffolk, she won the Jurisprudence Award in
Evidence. Following law school, Jennifer clerked for the
Honorable Karyn Faith Scheier, Chief Justice of the
Massachusetts Land Court. Jennifer joined the firm September
of 2005 and is presently working in the firm’s litigation
department.

Katherine
G. Brady
Katherine G. Brady is a 2005
graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law where she
received her J.D. and a 2002 graduate of Union College where
she received her B.A. in political science, magna cum laude,
and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha.
While attending law school, Ms. Brady worked as a law clerk
with a Winston-Salem law firm and participated in summer
internship programs with the Connecticut Attorney General’s
Office and Hartford Life. Prior to joining the firm’s
litigation department in 2006, Ms. Brady worked as a
commercial litigation & bankruptcy associate in a Hartford
based law firm. Ms. Brady is licensed to practice in
Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Laura
White Brandow
Laura White Brandow is a 1984 magna cum laude graduate of
Northeastern University where she received a Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Political Science, and a 1991 cum laude
graduate of Suffolk University Law School where she received
an American Jurisprudence Award for Advanced Evidence and
completed a summer clerkship with Judge Fenton at Suffolk
Land Court. Prior to law school, Ms. Brandow was a
residential loan closing coordinator for both law firms and
Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company. During law
school, Ms. Brandow worked in the claims department of
Chicago Title Insurance Company in Boston, Massachusetts.
Since graduation from law school, Ms. Brandow has
concentrated her practice in real estate, including
representation of various lenders in closing transactions,
foreclosure, bankruptcy, loan workouts and REO transactions.

Andrew S.
Brooslin
Andrew S. Brooslin
is an associate in the firm’s litigation department.
Mr.
Brooslin graduated
cum laude from
Suffolk University Law School and Drew University.
He was a
note editor of the Suffolk Transnational Law Review and
published a note entitled
Enforcing Insider Trading Laws: The Need for
International Cooperation,
which has been cited by legal scholars for its theories on
methods to curb international insider trading.
Prior to joining
Marcus, Errico, Emmer & Brooks, P.C., Mr. Brooslin was in
private practice in Boston with a focus on civil litigation.
His experience includes
defending lawsuits involving premises liability,
construction defect, civil rights, discrimination, nuisance
and general liability claims.
Mr. Brooslin has represented
clients at trial in the District and Superior Courts of
Massachusetts as well as at the United States District
Court, District of Massachusetts.
He has also appeared and
successfully argued before the Massachusetts Appeals Court
and the Appellate Division of the District Court.
Mr. Brooslin previously served
as an intern in the Washington D.C. office of United States
Senator John F. Kerry. Mr. Brooslin was admitted to the
Massachusetts bar in 1997.
John
Kalish
Principal practice focus is primarily in the areas of real
estate acquisition, development and financing including
purchase and loan documentation, title and environmental due
diligence, zoning, building, and development permitting and
the drafting of owner -contractor and owner - architect
agreements. Experience in technology contracting drafting
and negotiating agreements representing vendors and users of
hardware and software systems and Internet usage and as a
consultant to law firms and corporate legal departments in
the selection, implementation and use of computers in the
practice of law. John is a graduate of Boston
University School of Law in 1970 and Brandeis University, in
1967. He is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts
(1970) and Florida (1972).
Inessa Karan
Inessa Karan is an associate with
Marcus, Errico, Emmer & Brooks. Since joining the firm, Ms.
Karan has focused her practice in the areas of commercial
and residential landlord/tenant law. Ms. Karan received her
Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Northeastern
University in 2003 and is a 2008 graduate of New England
School of Law. Ms. Karan is admitted to the bar in the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Ted Papadopoulos
Ted Papadopoulos is an associate with
Marcus, Errico, Emmer & Brooks. Mr. Papadopoulos is a 2002
graduate of Cornell University where he received a
Bachelor’s Degree in Government, and a 2008 graduate of
Suffolk University Law School. While attending law school
Mr. Papadopoulos was employed at the City of Boston’s
Transportation Department (Adjudication Division), served as
a law clerk for a Boston based law firm specializing in
liquor licensing and zoning law, and served as the legal
intern for the Boston Red Sox General Counsel. Mr.
Papadopoulos is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and works
in the firm’s landlord/tenant group focusing primarily on
the representation of residential and commercial landlords.

John
E. Shaffer
John E. Shaffer received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from
the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1982 and he
graduated magna cum laude
from the New England School of Law in 1994. While
attending the New England School of Law, Mr. Shaffer was
Lead Articles Editor on the
New England Law Review and published an article entitled
Just Say No Driving: Rushworth v. Registrar of
Motor Vehicles and The Massachusetts License Suspension
Law in Volume 28, Spring 1994 of that publication. Prior
to entering law school, Mr. Shaffer was employed as a civil
engineer in the design and development of residential and
commercial real estate projects and he is currently licensed
as a professional engineer in the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts. Before joining the firm, Mr. Shaffer
practiced with the Farmington, Connecticut law firm of Levy
& Droney, P.C. in its litigation department. Mr.
Shaffer focuses his current practice in the civil litigation
practice group and construction defect litigation.

Erik Shaughnessy
Erik Shaughnessy is a 2006 cum laude graduate of Suffolk
University Law School and a 2003 graduate of Boston College
where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in History. While
at Suffolk Law, Mr. Shaughnessy authored the article, The
Extent of Grandparent Visitation in New England, which was
published in the Massachusetts Family Law Journal for
June-July 2006. Prior to joining Marcus, Errico, Emmer &
Brooks, P.C., he was an associate at a metrowest law firm
representing mortgagees for foreclosures and foreclosure
related matters. Mr. Shaughnessy was admitted to the
Massachusetts Bar in 2006 and was admitted into the Federal
Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts in March
of 2008. He joined the firm in February of 2008 and works
in the firm’s community association practice group.

Lori A. Atkins
Lori A. Atkins is a litigation associate at Marcus, Errico,
Emmer & Brooks, P.C. where she concentrates her practice in
commercial and residential real estate, land use,
condominium and landlord/tenant law. Prior to joining the
firm in 2007, Ms. Atkins served as an Assistant District
Attorney for the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office, where
she was the sole prosecutor in over 50 felony and
misdemeanor trials. She is a frequent lecturer for MCLE and
Suffolk University Law School. Ms. Atkins has been named
among the Massachusetts
Rising Stars Super Lawyers for 2008 as published in
Boston Magazine. She is an Adjunct Faculty member at Suffolk
University School of Government and serves as the President
of the Board of Directors. She is an active member of the
American Association for Justice, the American Bar
Association, and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Ms.
Atkins is a 2004 graduate of Suffolk University Law School
and a 2001 graduate of Suffolk University, magna cum laude.

Paul
Barresi
Paul J. Barresi is a graduate of Cornell University and
Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to joining the
firm in October of 2003, Mr. Barresi represented creditors
in all aspects of collection law at Lustig, Glaser & Wilson
in Newton, MA. Mr. Barresi’s cases included Fleet Bank v.
Smith, 1999 Mass. Appellate Division. Mr. Barresi also
worked in a general civil practice at the law firm of
Badger, Dolan, Parker & Cohen in Boston, MA. Before entering
law school, Mr. Barresi worked as a residential and
commercial real estate appraiser and is a member of the
Board of Assessors for the Town of Hanover. Mr. Barresi
works in the firm’s community association and
landlord-tenant practice groups.

Kelly
A. Charleston
Ms. Charleston is
a graduate of Boston College Law School, where she received
her J.D. in 2005 and the University of Massachusetts at
Amherst, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in
Political Science and Spanish in 2002. While at Boston
College, Ms. Charleston was a member of the National
Criminal Procedure Moot Court team and an active participate
in the school’s Immigration and Asylum Project. Ms.
Charleston joined the firm in 2005 and is currently a member
of the firm’s landlord/ tenant practice group.

Mark
S. Einhorn
Mark S. Einhorn is a 1996 graduate of Ithaca College where
he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Planned Studies, with
concentrations in writing and public policy. Mr. Einhorn
graduated cum laude from Suffolk University Law School, and
was the recipient of the Suffolk University Jurisprudence
Awards for excellence in the study of Torts and
Constitutional Law. While attending law school Mr. Einhorn
served as an intern with the trial division of the Office of
the Attorney General, and served as a student attorney in
the Lynn Criminal District Court. Prior to attending law
school, Mr. Einhorn worked as a reporter for a Connecticut
daily newspaper, and as a marketing consultant for a major
Massachusetts health insurer. Since graduating from law
school, Mr. Einhorn has concentrated his practice in real
estate, including representation of various lenders in
closing transactions, as well as buyer and seller
transactions. Mr. Einhorn was admitted to the Massachusetts
Bar in 2002 and to the Connecticut Bar in 2003. Mr. Einhorn
is a member of the firm’s landlord/tenant and condominium
association practice groups.

Matthew W.
Gaines
Mr. Gaines is a graduate of New England School of Law, where
he received his J.D., and a graduate of Connecticut College,
where he received his B.A. in Government. Prior to joining
the firm, Matt worked in the Massachusetts Legislature
serving as Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for
Senator Brian A. Joyce. In this capacity, he worked on a
variety of legislative and budget initiatives. In addition,
Matt worked as the Senate staff member for the Joint
Committee on Community Development and Small Business, which
considers all matters related to small businesses, economic
development districts, and urban renewal. He also serves on
the Outreach Council of Heading Home, a non-profit focusing
on ending homelessness in Greater Boston.

Jeremy
L. Kay
Jeremy L. Kay is a 2003
cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois College of
Law where he was a member of the Journal of Law, Technology,
and Policy and the recipient of the CALI award for
excellence in sports law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Williams College where he majored in mathematics
and economics and was a member of the wrestling team. Mr.
Kay is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and
Illinois and has focused his practice in the areas of real
estate and business litigation. Prior to joining the firm’s
litigation department, Mr. Kay served as an Assistant
District Attorney in Plymouth County where he was the sole
prosecutor in approximately 50 jury trials and hundreds of
jury waived trials. He was previously a litigation
associate with the Law Offices of James M. Burke in
Brockton, Massachusetts.

Robert
Nislick
Robert Nislick is a litigation associate at Marcus, Errico,
Emmer & Brooks, P.C. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Nislick
served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Leon J. Lombardi,
Justice of the Massachusetts Land Court. Mr. Nislick
graduated cum laude from Suffolk University Law School.
While in law school, he earned a spot on Suffolk
Transnational Law Review, and also received honors for his
clinical work advocating for indigent defendants. Mr.
Nislick received his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from
Brandeis University. Mr. Nislick has also served as an
Associate Member of the Framingham Zoning Board of Appeals.

David M.
Rogers
David M. Rogers is a litigation
associate at Marcus, Errico, Emmer & Brooks, P.C. Prior to
joining the firm, Mr. Rogers worked at Malloy & Sullivan,
P.C. in Hingham, Massachusetts, where he focused on
construction litigation. He has represented developers,
general contractors and subcontractors in various civil
disputes. Mr. Rogers is a cum laude graduate of Suffolk
University Law School, where he was a member of the Suffolk
University Transnational Law Review and recipient of the
Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law and Best Brief
Award. He is also a graduate of the Medill School of
Journalism at Northwestern University. Mr. Rogers is
admitted to the bar in Massachusetts (2002) and the United
States District Court for the District of Massachusetts
(2006). He has been certified as a player agent by the
Major League Baseball Players Association and represents
several professional baseball players in conjunction with
the Jay Fee Sports Group of Hingham, Massachusetts.

Joseph
D. Saurino
Mr. Saurino is a graduate of Boston University and the
Massachusetts School of Law, where he authored a published
law review articles on the application of Massachusetts'
statute of repose in the context of condominium construction
defect litigation. Mr. Saurino has an extensive professional
background in community association management, and
concentrates his practice in the areas of community
association law and civil litigation. He has served on the
New England Chapter of the Community Associations
Institute's Attorneys and Legislative Action Committees, and
was named Attorney of the Year by the New England Chapter in
1999.

F. Thompson
William F. Thompson is an associate in the firm’s community
association practice group. He graduated cum laude from New
England School of Law in 2005. While at New England, Mr.
Thompson was a Case Note Editor and Assistant Symposium
coordinator for the New England Journal on Criminal and
Civil Confinement and published an article entitled,
“Terri’s Law: The limit of the Florida Legislature to Decide
an Individual’s Right to Die. Prior to entering law school,
Mr. Thompson was a History teacher in coach at Bedford High
School. Before joining the firm in 2007, Mr. Thompson was an
associate with a metrowest law firm where he concentrated on
real estate, land use, and business litigation. |
